World Mental Health Day

October 10 is World Mental Health Day, a date to be kind about how people feel. It is not medical advice.

The next date is October 10, 2027. Dates follow Mountain Time, America/Denver. Stories below are from the archive.

How to take part

Free and safe. No fee, no student email, and no trip taken alone.

  • Check on a friend with a simple question, and listen.
  • Take a walk, a breath, or a break if you need one.
  • If someone may be in danger, tell a trusted adult or local emergency services. Do not try to handle a crisis alone.

For classrooms

A short prompt for a teacher to use with children. This page is for adults.

Ask the class for one kind sentence that is easy to say on a hard day. Do not ask anyone to share a diagnosis, a private problem, or a crisis. A teacher follows the school's usual help process if a student needs an adult.

More stories a teacher can read aloud are in the Kids section.
