Coming up

Coming up: Dec 21 to 27, 2026.

Spend twenty minutes helping at home by tidying a shared space, watering a plant, or sorting recycling.

About 150 volunteers in Arvada gave 450 hours to local groups, including a children's pantry. Twenty minutes of help at home is a free start, and it does not need a sign-up.

Three easy ways

At school

The class picks one shared job, such as wiping a table or putting books back, and does it together for twenty minutes.

At home

Choose one job a grown-up lists, such as watering a plant or sorting recycling, and finish it.

In the neighborhood

With a grown-up you live with, pick up litter in your own yard or on your own block, using gloves that the grown-up provides. Stay together.

The story that inspired it

Arvada volunteers gave 450 hours to 14 local nonprofits

Arvada, Colorado · Oct 19, 2026

About 150 people painted a pediatric clinic, restocked a children's pantry, and got a family nonprofit ready for winter. It was the chamber's biggest Day of Service yet.

Teacher note

Pick a job every student can do, and stop at twenty minutes. Read the linked story aloud before the class starts. Do not send children off alone. Do not collect a child's name, age, school, or email.

This page is for an adult to lead. The classroom section has more stories to read aloud.
