Honolulu firefighters got three people out of a first-floor apartment in Punchbowl on Thursday night, KITV reported. The department took a 911 call at 10:09 p.m. for a building fire at 275 Auwaiolimu Street. Crews arrived within minutes and saw smoke coming from a unit in a three-story building. There were also reports of three people trapped in a back room.
A moped and other belongings were burning near the front door, and the flames had started into the apartment. Firefighters stretched handlines to that doorway, got the fire under control, and went in for the three people. The fire was under control at 10:27 p.m. and out at 10:36 p.m. KITV said nobody was harmed. The American Red Cross was notified to help residents of both apartment units. Investigators are looking at where the fire started. The report does not name the three people.
