Los Angeles firefighters pulled three people from the rain-swollen Pacoima Wash in North Hills on Thursday morning. ABC7 reported that the Los Angeles Fire Department was sent about 9 a.m. to 15012 West Parthenia Street, east of Sepulveda Boulevard, during one of the season's first heavy storms.
Crews got a woman out of the water. The department said she was in stable condition when she was taken to a hospital. Spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz said a helicopter crew then lifted a man from the floodwater and flew him directly to a hospital. A short time later, firefighters using a ladder truck and a crane hoisted a third adult, a man, from where he was holding on at a bridge abutment near Saticoy Street.
Bystanders had reported that a fourth person might be in the wash. The department later said that person was already safely out of the water before firefighters arrived, and that no further victims were suspected. ABC7's account, with City News Service, stops at those three rescues. It does not describe how the others were doing after they reached the hospital.
