The reporting lives at Breaking AC. Our summary is checked against it, and we link it on every story.

Atlantic City firefighters spent about three hours on Thursday evening getting two women out of an elevator at the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa, Breaking AC reported. The call came in at 5:23 p.m. The car sat in a blind shaft, about 190 feet down, without a door on every floor.

Firefighters Anthony Phillips and Brian Berrio made the descent on ropes. Crews brought the women up one at a time. The second woman was out at about 8:19 p.m., and the last firefighter left the shaft at 8:22 p.m. Deputy Chief Duane Brock led Rescue 1, Ladder 1, and Engine 2. Capt. Jeffrey Jenkins coordinated parts of the rope work. Fire Chief Scott Evans said the special operations crew finished the rescue with no injuries. The account does not name the women or say why the elevator stopped.
