Ally Financial volunteers spent a day at Neinas Dual Language Learning Academy in Southwest Detroit with students, Detroit Public Schools Community District leaders, and the DPSCD Foundation, CBS Detroit reported. They worked on the community garden, packed hundreds of snack packs for families, and redid the teachers' lounge.
Student Juan Angulo said he could finally see a change in the garden, a place younger children use the way he did. The foundation's president, Kerrie Mitchell Campbell-Mabins, said the day is the kind of return she wants from alumni. One of them, Ally's Kathy Patterson, went to Detroit public schools and once walked the halls at Neinas. Ally also gave $50,000 for district initiatives.
