Jacob Brimer, of El Dorado Firefighters Local 1074, finished a run across Arkansas for Camp Sunshine, the El Dorado News-Times reported. He lives in Junction City. He started at the Louisiana line, ran to Little Rock, then turned northwest through Bella Vista and crossed into Missouri. The effort began October 1. He had been training for about eight months. Fire crews joined him as he came through their towns. He raised more than $15,000.

Camp Sunshine, founded in 1991, is a four-day August retreat for children with burn injuries. Campers attend free. The Arkansas Professional Fire Fighters fund it, and a session costs about $56,000. Brimer's idea was to pull firefighter unions along the route into a camp most of the state never sees.
