TrueCare and a local NBA veteran held a free basketball camp for children across the Jackson area, WLBT reported. Dozens of kids from first through eighth grade spent Tuesday morning at the Hangar Dome at Millsaps College.
Eric Dampier Sr., a former Mississippi State player and a 16-year NBA veteran, was there with his son, Eric Dampier Jr., a highly ranked high school prospect, and other sports leaders. Organizers said the morning was for teamwork, time with Dampier, and moving around. The camp was one morning. It was not a tryout or a promise of a roster spot.
