The Lincoln Police Department has its first comfort dog. WMUR reported that Boots is a relative of the department's K-9 Watson and will work with the resource officer who covers the Lin-Wood Public Schools.
A comfort dog is not a patrol dog. The work is to be with people, including students, when a moment is frightening or sad. Boots is new to that role. The department has not tied the assignment to one incident. The news is that Lincoln, New Hampshire, now has a dog for that quieter job.
