A Monroe Township ambulance crew on the way back from a call found about 20 goats in the road and got them home, News 12 New Jersey reported on October 19, 2026. Ambulance 513 was returning from CentraState Hospital in Freehold around 6:30 p.m. on October 13 when the crew spotted the herd along Perrineville Road near Route 522.
John Schwartz and Christopher Zwickel moved the goats off the pavement, then found the owner and told him they were out. He showed them that a bucket of corn was the whole plan. He shook it, the goats came out of the woods, and they headed home. The department said everyone made it back safely. Its own write-up of the call leaned on the obvious joke. The work underneath it was ordinary and useful: get the animals out of traffic, find the person responsible, and let the feed do the herding.
