Two hundred and eleven students at 39 public universities in Kenya are getting tuition, a living stipend, and a laptop through a scholarship from the I&M Foundation and the charity Help Change Lives. HapaKenya reported on October 22, 2026, that the students received the laptops at a handover at I&M Bank headquarters in Nairobi. The program began in September.
I&M Bank Kenya chief executive Abdi Mohamed told the scholars that education creates choices, and he asked them to stay curious and to help someone else later. Dorine Nalo, head of the I&M Foundation, said a university place is not enough on its own if students lack the tools to take part in the work. HapaKenya said the bank funds the foundation with an annual amount equal to 2 percent of its profit before tax.
The handover is support for this group of 211. It does not say how many other students in Kenya still cannot pay fees or buy a computer.
