Oman's Environment Authority in South Sharqiyah released 57,744 turtle hatchlings into the sea in September and put 201 rescued adult turtles back in the water. Muscat Daily reported the totals on October 14, 2026. The work was centered on the Ras Al Hadd Turtle Reserve, a nesting beach on the Arabian Sea.

Ninety-seven volunteers, five supervisors, and eight beach patrols took part. Director Nizar bin Salim Al Fannah Al Araimi described the month as a busy stretch of nest checks and releases. Volunteer Fatima bint Salim Al Hamhami spent time guiding visitors, including students, so people could watch without crowding the turtles. The counts cover September. They are one month of a nesting season, not a full-year census.
