John Vose told KTUL he spent eight summers and eight winters without a place he could count on. Programs that brought people inside for cold nights still meant leaving again. He said he sometimes did not want to fall asleep, in case the bed was only a dream.

During those years he got to know BeHeard, a Tulsa outreach group that offers mobile showers and laundry. The group hired him. Then, in a few weeks, more than 40 people put money together and bought him a trailer. He now has his own front door and his own bed. Chief operating officer Amber Wise said his face when he got the camper is why she does the work. A trailer is a home for him. It is not a claim that Tulsa's housing shortage is solved.
