Decatur closed a 12-hour food drive with a record total. WAND reported on October 2, 2026, that the 23rd annual WSOY Community Food Drive raised $1,051,034 at the Kroger Airport Plaza, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Organizers said that sum should provide about 200,000 meals, and that more gifts were still being counted over the weekend.

The drive benefits about 25 food pantries, shelters, and community groups in Macon County. St. Teresa High School won the school donation contest for the third year in a row. Since the event began, the community has given nearly 30 million pounds of food. Organizer Brian Byers said the job is the same one it was in year one: neighbors helping neighbors.
