Eighth graders at Maple Street School spent an afternoon making the case for an unexpected kindness. The Manchester Journal reported on October 8, 2026, that the students took dahlias from Fleur Farm, before the first frost, made individual bouquets, and wrote notes to go with them. They walked from the school to Shaw's in Manchester Center and handed the flowers to employees and shoppers.

People told the students the flowers had made their day. The paper described the walk as a lesson in empathy, not a fundraiser. The students found out what it feels like to do something small for a stranger and watch it land.
