Jordan Hope, 18, pulled over in a Walgreens parking lot near John Wayne Parkway and Smith-Enke Road because an older man's shoes were barely staying on his feet. AZ Family reported on October 8, 2026, that Hope took off his own slides and gave them away. He did not know anyone was filming. After he drove off, he turned around, found the man inside the store trying to buy candy, and paid for it.
That is when Hope learned the man's wife had died two weeks earlier. Swelling in the man's legs made Hope's car a hard place to climb into, so Hope called a rideshare, met him at Culver's, and stayed to talk. He has been checking in by phone every day since. The station described a recent high school graduate who builds computers in Maricopa and Casa Grande, and who said the stop was not a performance.
