Seven children in Monclova, ages 6 to 12, were selected for free surgery for strabismus, and the operations were underway on November 6 and 7. Vanguardia reported the clinic at 3:28 p.m. on November 6, 2026, while the two-day schedule at Hospital del DIF Monclova was in progress. DIF director María Eugenia Linaje said pediatric ophthalmologist Luis Ignacio Larrazábal traveled from Monterrey and waived his fee, as did anesthesiologist Orlando de Hoyos, who is from Monclova. The Damas Rotarias of the Rotary Club joined the effort.

Schools were surveyed, families who were interested were listed, and a specialist screened candidates. Seven girls and boys were chosen. DIF supplied the operating room, supplies, surgical equipment, and nurses. Linaje said a private operation of this kind can cost about 60,000 pesos. She said this was the current administration's first strabismus surgery day, and that the doctors had offered to return in 2027, with another call through the schools early next year. The paper wrote while the work was happening, so this account does not add a result for each child after the last case.
