The reporting lives at WPTZ. Our summary is checked against it, and we link it on every story.

Early Wednesday afternoon, a bystander called 911 just after noon to report a vehicle in the Connecticut River at Lancaster Road in Lunenburg, WPTZ reported. The car was sinking, and the driver was still inside. The Essex County Sheriff's Department called in help from departments in Vermont and New Hampshire. The Lunenburg Fire Department got there first.

Crews went into the water and moved 69-year-old Diane Gunnip, of Lunenburg, onto the roof of the sinking vehicle. Firefighters then brought her to shore with a life ring. Investigators said Gunnip had a medical emergency, left the road, drove through a field, and went over an embankment into the river. Her family said she was not hurt in the crash. She was taken to Weeks Hospital for treatment. New Hampshire Fish and Game pulled the vehicle out of the water.
